In 2015 Gregg Allman co-founded and curated the inaugural Laid Back Festival. While Gregg passed away , the Laid Back Festival – a traveling celebration of food and music – has been presented in the spirit of Allman. with lineups including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jackson Browne, Steve Winwood, Jimmie Vaughan, Little Steven & The Disciples Of Soul, Peter Wolf and Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band and many more...

On October 7th, 2017 The Toyota Music Factory produced The Laid Back Festival Featuring; Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimmie Vaughan, Stoney LaRue, Texas Gentleman, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, and Bishop Gunn.

There was long lines but no one really seemed to mind. Everyone's in a good mood chatting it up and making new friends while waiting. The doors opened a little after 6:00PM.

As soon as you walk in you're greeted with a line of greeters collecting tickets, checking purses (DO NOT BRING BACKPACKS) There's another layer of greeters after you give up your ticket. They are there to help you get to where you're going since the venue is still new. There's a huge merch table when you walk in followed by stairs going up to higher levels and the outside patio area or go straight to the concourse where there's plenty of food and beverage available with little wait time.

There's plenty of stations to find alcoholic beverages upstairs, down stairs and even beer girls walking around. You will not go thirsty that's for sure. No one want's to wait for a drink and at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory you won't wait long. Make sure you bring your ID, I noticed they ID everyone.

Food at the venue is provided by outside vendors like;  Fuzzy's Taco Shop and Campisi's. Two of DFW's  favorites or at least my favorites. Yes, it's going to be a little expensive. I had the pizza with a drink, $15.00 but the pizza was awesome and could have fed two people easily.

So when you think about it. $15.00 not that bad. Especially if you're running a little late getting to the show or you just get the munchies as I think a few hundred did by the time Lynyrd Skynyrd hit the stage.

I was wondering how they were going to pull off six bands. Logistically it would have been a nightmare but not impossible. They had two stages going at the same time which made it a lot easier.

Everyone knows Lynyrd Skynyrd has changed members over the years. It's not the same band from the early 1970s but it's still the same music and the current lineup plays it well.

The band has been fraught with multiple tragic events like the plane crash that killed lead singer and songwriter, Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and vocalist Cassie Gaines. Allen Collins was paralyzed in a car accident and later died from complications.

Original drummer Artimus Pyle survived a serious motorcycle accident. Health maladies have also struck other remaining Continue
